Celebrating the Strength of Our Community: #WeThrive Stories

Apr 9, 2024 |

April marks a significant time for the limb loss and limb difference community as we come together to raise awareness, share our stories, and celebrate our resilience. At the Amputee Coalition, we are proud to highlight the remarkable journeys of our community members through the #WeThrive campaign.

Each story shared during Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month serves as a testament to the strength and determination of individuals navigating life with limb loss or limb difference. These stories not only shed light on the challenges faced but also illuminate the triumphs, resilience, and unwavering spirit that define our community.

#WeThrive stories not only celebrate the strength of individuals but also showcase the power of community support. Our community stands together, offering encouragement, understanding, and solidarity. Share your story and help spread awareness to ensure that everyone feels empowered and included.

Here are just a few of the testimonials highlighting the importance of support, innovation, and community.

“My life hasn’t been taken from me but it has certainly changed. I have embraced it well and wear this new challenge with pride.” – Saxon Reynolds

“Looking in the mirror, I say, ‘I am enough.’ God made me beautiful and wonderful!” – Mary Terry

“I just want to say to all our amputee community family out there, keep fighting and show everyone how strong we are. Achieve your goals and dreams. Set your dreams and goals high. There’s nothing we cannot achieve or accomplish.” – Steven Duncan

“Reflecting on my journey, I’m reminded of a quote from someone who went through a similar experience: ‘If I had known how my life would turn out, I wouldn’t have cried so much.’ Despite the challenges, I’m grateful for the strength and resilience that have emerged from this chapter of my life.” – Daniela Hernandez

“I don’t let anything stop me from doing anything. I have been a cheerleader, I have modeled in a few fashion shows, and I just live a normal life. I work from home, I type, I drive and I live on my own. I have never let my disability define me and I never will. I want to show others to define yourself by your talents and not your disability.” – Amanda Lopez

As you continue to share your stories and raise awareness this Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month, let us celebrate the diversity, resilience, and triumphs of our community. Together, we thrive, breaking down barriers one story at a time. We can make a difference and show the world that with resilience and support, anything is possible.
