Open enrollment is almost here, are you prepared? The 2024 Medicare open enrollment period begins this Sunday, October 15 and ends Thursday, December 7. During open enrollment everyone with Medicare has the opportunity to make changes to their prescription drug plans or health plans for coverage beginning January 1, 2024.
Specifically, during this period you can:
- Join, drop, or switch to another Medicare Advantage Plan (or add or drop drug coverage)
- Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan
- Join a Medicare drug plan if you’re in Original Medicare
- Switch from one Medicare drug plan to another if you’re in Original Medicare
It’s important to remember that Medicare plans can change every year, and your current one might be changing, so make sure to compare your options for next year. On Medicare.gov you can also do side-by-side comparisons of plan coverage, costs, and quality ratings.
