Ed Nathan has volunteered his time to help others in the limb loss and limb difference community with the Amputee Coalition since he became an amputee 13 years ago. During the 2023 National Conference, Ed was one of the volunteers recognized with the Values in Action award.
Prior to losing his leg, Ed was a corporate trainer for more than 20 years and worked in pharmaceuticals. As a result of degenerative neuropathy, he made the difficult decision to amputate below the knee on June 21, 2010. Since 2015, he has supported others as a Certified Peer Visitor and has made visits to 30 – 35 patients in hospitals a year. This is his way of giving back and reminding others that they are not alone as they begin their journey with limb loss.
