Elizabeth Shea

Elizabeth SheaI have been bilateral AK for 32 years. Things were primitive back then and after wearing very uncomfortable prosthetics for about 10 years back and forth to work, I stopped wearing any at all. I spent 20 more years in just my wheelchair. I had trouble with my back and thought getting foreshortened prosthetics would help me stretch out those muscles. I looked on the Amputee Coalition’s website and it led me to Achilles Prosthetics and Orthotics and Peter Buffington. He’s the best! In November 2020, we began a new journey starting with stubbies and now I’m learning to walk on my RHEO XC by Össur. It’s been amazing and I’m learning so much! I currently go to physical therapy at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey. I can’t wait to see what comes next!
