Employment Council Meeting: Participation Within Amputee Coalition’s Programming

Feb 22, 2024 |

February’s Employment Council meeting focused on engaging member participation in upcoming Workforce Development Program opportunities with the Amputee Coalition. The current employment council, formed earlier this year, is made up of employers, organizations, and colleges/universities dedicated to supporting the mission of providing professional and career opportunities to people with limb loss and limb difference.

Amputee Coalition’s Leadership Team and staff also joined the Employment Council Meeting, which included President and CEO, Cass Isidro, Chief Strategy and Programs Officer, Ashlie White, along with Strategy Executive to the President and CEO, Patrice Diechelle, Director of Workforce Development and Youth Engagement, Maurice Henson, and our Youth Outreach Coordinator, Jordan Straughter. In addition, our Workforce Development Volunteer, Paula Golladay, joined the meeting, providing valuable insight to our Employment Council Members.

Workforce Development Manager, Trenaya Reid, invited employment council members to participate in both in-person and virtual events, such as the National Conference and Workforce Development Webinars, sharing their tips and expertise with job seekers.

Opportunities to get involved include:

  • Participation within Workforce Development Programming at 2024 National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia
  • Workforce Development Track at the Youth Camp hosted at Camp Aranzazu in Rockport, Texas
  • Annual project Ideas for YEP Youth Council members
  • Community outreach events in Memphis, Tennessee, and the Mississippi Delta
  • Workforce Development Program webinars for adults and youth tailored towards the organization or other job-related topics
