Wheels and Prostheses
My name is Sonia, and I am a double below knee amputee who lives in the UK and didn’t cycle at all when I was younger. I started volunteering at a cycling charity a few years ago and that was the impetus for me to learn how to ride a two wheeler. The cycling charity also has lots of adapted bikes so even if you are not confident using your prosthesis to bike, there is always a recumbent, a handbike, a trike or many other variations of cycle for you. I am now enjoying exploring the options for longer distance cycling as many of the amputee cyclists in the USA that I have been in contact with have done some very impressive cycling around the country and beyond. I eventually wrote a book that includes resources and information you might find interesting!
