Elevate Your Voice During Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month

Apr 10, 2023 |

Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness MonthThere has never been a better time to Elevate Your Voice than during Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness month! Help us heighten the visibility of the limb loss/limb difference community. Whether you are an amputee, a family member, or a compassionate ally for the community, you can leverage your voice this April to enact lasting change through advocacy. Several of our inspirational daily dares are connected with elevating your voice so be sure to share so we can celebrate our victories together.

Although becoming an advocate may seem intimidating initially, all it requires is a passion for the community and a commitment to educating yourself and championing their needs. This week we challenge you to take your awareness efforts to the next level by engaging in actionable advocacy work to the degree you feel comfortable with.

Requesting a Gubernatorial proclamation in your state is just one of the ways you can drive awareness and we’ve made the process simple! Currently, nine states have declared April as Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month and yours can be next! If you’d like to assist by getting your state on the list (and checking off another daily dare), visit our Advocacy & Awareness homepage for instructions on how to complete a request.

We invite you to attend our LLLDAM educational webinars which cover a variety of topics from workforce development to social media. This includes our Advocacy Forum virtual webinar lineup which will equip you with the tools to raise your voice in a meaningful way. View the upcoming webinar lineup and register today!

Advocacy can take many forms so it’s important to understand that there are many paths through which you can elevate your voice. Perhaps you are interested in becoming a Lead Advocate and influencing lawmakers, or you are best suited to one of the tracks in the Ambassadors and Community Champions Program. Another powerful way to foster connection and grow awareness is sharing your individual #WeThrive story.

Your contribution is valuable and is crucial to the collective effort to improve the lives of people with limb loss and limb difference. It’s time to capitalize throughout April on society’s greater awareness of our community and play our part in the fight for change.
