Elevate Your Story for Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month

Apr 4, 2023 |

Did you know that more than 2.7 million people just in the United States alone live with limb loss or limb difference? It is estimated that by 2050, this number is expected to nearly double and this is why Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month is so important!

Every April since 2010, the Amputee Coalition has dedicated the entire month to raising national awareness about limb loss and limb difference and the diverse community it impacts. In the spirit of our overarching theme for 2023, Inspire to Elevate, we would like to highlight how taking the step to elevate your story can go a long way in impacting the lives of others. Your unique story has power to connect with other amputees and help them realize they are not alone. It can also serve as a beacon of hope for those at the beginning of their journey and a reminder that there is life after limb loss. This is your opportunity to share both your struggles and your successes with a wide audience and pass on your wisdom to others who find themselves facing a similar situation.

This April especially, we encourage you to do this by sharing your #WeThrive story with the Amputee Coalition whether you are participating for the first time or just want to share a more recent life update. The purpose of the #WeThrive campaign is to help raise awareness of the resilience, strength, and courage of people living with limb loss and limb difference in their own words. We invite you to submit your story and photo on our Thrive blog or tag us in a video on social media.

Don’t underestimate the power of your story. What you’ve been through and overcome may just be the experience that resonates with someone else and gives them the boost they need to move forward and thrive.
