Gary Weiland was a firefighter in Texas for seven years when he experienced a series of unfortunate events. His leg was amputated just below his knee. Gary decided this tragedy would not end his career and passion for fighting fires. Just ten months and six days after his amputation, he was back on the fire truck, full-duty, with no restrictions. Now he is on a mission to show the world that you can adapt and overcome no matter what happens to you!
You can hear him speak at the Amputee Coalition National Conference in Orlando, Florida, Aug. 2-5.
Gary has twice competed in NBC’s America’s Ninja Warrior, most recently this month. He is a member of the USA Para Bobsled Team, where he recently won the U.S. National Championship, and the USA Para Beach Volleyball Team. As a motivational speaker, Gary travels the country, speaking about overcoming obstacles and challenges in life. He has also written a children’s book series.
Attend his presentation, Adapt and Overcome, on Thursday, August 3, as he joins us to demonstrate that with determination, anything is achievable.
