Every November, National Family Caregivers Month (NFCM) provides an important opportunity to recognize the unsung heroes who dedicate their time and energy to caring for their loved ones. This year the tradition continues with a signed proclamation from President Biden.
Caregivers play an indispensable role in our society, providing vital support to family members and friends who face various health challenges. This observance not only celebrates their tireless efforts but also seeks to raise awareness of the challenges caregivers encounter daily and promote ways to provide them with the support they need.
The Caregiver Action Network (CAN), a nonprofit organization offering free education, peer support, and resources to family caregivers, leads the national observance of NFCM. In 2023, the theme is #CaregiversConnect, emphasizing the significance of connections in caregiving. They offer a Family Caregiver Toolbox to support your efforts. CAN collaborates with the Administration for Community Living which offers year-round programs and councils to engage, support, and empower caregivers.
