Open Heart Surgery Results in Limb Loss
I underwent open heart surgery to replace two valves and do three bypasses in August 2021. I had a heparin-induced thrombosis during surgery that resulted in loss of circulation to my legs. My right leg was amputated below the knee, and my left leg had all the toes amputated. I had excellent support from family and friends during my recovery. Doing OK now. Adjusted lifestyle. Grieving loss of mobility.
