Waylon was born with a birth defect called Fibular Hemimelia. This resulted in both of his feet being amputated. His first amputation was shortly after he turned a year old. We tried saving the other foot, but it turned out to be more complicated and severe than we originally thought. His second amputation was when he was 2 and a half years old. Fibular Hemimelia is a very rare disorder, occurring in only 1 in 40,000 births. Bilateral fibular hemimelia (affecting both legs) is even more rare. Today, our little Waylon is happy, healthy, and thriving. He is our little superhero and an inspiration to everyone he meets!
