Applications are open for the Disability EmpowHer Network’s EmpowHer Camp! EmpowHer aims to help girls with disabilities to live to their fullest potential and have the confidence to lead. In 2021, Disability EmpowHer Network started the camp to equip teenage girls with disabilities with the tools to lead in their lives, schools, and communities.
EmpowHer Camp is a one-year program for youth with disabilities ages 13-18. It starts with a week of camping in the Adirondack Mountains to explore nature and make new friends.
Campers connect with mentors who help them set and achieve goals. After the camping trip, participants work on a project of interest at home and speak with their mentors every month on their progress.
The following summer, they take a trip to Washington, DC, with their mentors to reunite with other campers, present their projects, and explore the area.
