LOOKING FORWARD: 2023 will see major events in our community.

An eventful year
Coalition calendar packed with events for 2023

The Amputee Coalition is gearing up for fun, exciting, and educational events for 2023. Let’s take a little time to explore!

In April, during Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month, the Advocacy Forum is a great time to have your voice heard on Capitol Hill with your legislators, advocating for our community. Hill Day will create great awareness around this population and its needs that otherwise would not happen without your voice.

This year’s forum will offer an opportunity to learn about policy issues facing the community and experience new lead advocacy training, a welcome reception, and an exhibit hall, in addition to many other fun add-on experiences. We believe the time to act is now! Let’s work together to bring about change to ensure support for those living with limb loss and limb difference.

In August, the Amputee Coalition National Conference, our premier event, will come to Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld in Florida. We have amazing activities for you and your family that will connect you with others of the community, exhibitors, and sponsors who support the limb loss/limb difference community: a walkathon, health and wellness activities, educational programs, and the most spectacular excursion to SeaWorld you can imagine! This year’s conference theme, “Elevate Together Towards Tomorrow,” will highlight ways to expand our community in every way!

“Courage to Be You” is our theme for the Youth Engagement Program (YEP) Youth Camp, which will take place alongside the National Conference in Orlando. YEP is inviting all youths ages 10-17 to preregister. We know the value of our campers and counselors connecting face to face each summer. We have developed innovative and inclusive ways for our campers to bond.

The Amputee Coalition understands that young people experiencing limb loss and limb difference and their caregivers face unique challenges. Our in-person Youth Camp helps these young people connect with peers, explore new experiences, and grow in their confidence and awareness.

And, if these are not enough, we will be hosting several regional events in the fall that will continue the theme of the Advocacy Forum and the National Conference and Youth Camp. These regional events will focus on mental, financial, emotional, and physical wellness that will continue the conversations to improve care through education, support, and prevention. The regional events will champion the community and its volunteers by influencing, inquiring, storytelling, and networking to support the limb loss and limb difference community.

As the Amputee Coalition continues to celebrate and engage our diverse community, we are committed to building a united voice on issues affecting the community and elevating the organization’s mission. It is our collective work and responsibility to create and uphold our community in UNITY, share problems, and solve them together. We hope to see you at one or several of our upcoming events for the experience and to see how you can become involved.
