Dec 8, 2022 |

Meet Ryan Geddie, Government Relations Specialist
We are pleased to introduce Ryan Geddie, the newest addition to the Government Relations team. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Ryan has worked as a legislative aide in the Texas House of Representatives. He has engaged in many volunteer opportunities related to all levels of government, from serving on local government commissions to canvassing during the 2021 Georgia senate runoff.

Ryan joins the Amputee Coalition working to advance the policy agenda of the Amputee Coalition at the state and federal levels. He will also engage and empower volunteers and lead advocates to advocate for the limb loss and limb difference community.

As a baby, Ryan had a lower-limb amputation. Throughout his life, he has been involved with groups that strive to empower and advocate for people with disabilities, including the Amputee Coalition. Ryan is extraordinarily excited to join the organization and the staff who bring so much passion for the amputee community to their day-to-day work.

He writes a blog about land value taxation in his free time, is a plant lover, and plays guitar.

Meet Shannon Williams, Digital Media and Graphic Design Specialist
We are excited to introduce Shannon Williams, an integral member of the Communications Team. His prior experience as a Senior Specialist has provided him with unique technical skills leading and designing successful projects for top companies. Shannon is passionate about this industry and career and is driven to deliver high-quality work within his new role in the organization.

In his new role, he will develop visual materials for advertisements, campaigns, social media platforms, and publications. Shannon sees this opportunity as a way to contribute to an exciting, forward-thinking organization. Through his creative experience, he will introduce new designs and creative direction to display new innovative approaches toward the company’s future goals.

Shannon has a fascinating history as a former 2006 NFL free agent wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, a former actor from the Hit Stage Play, A Medea’s Christmas, and a former body double/ stuntman for actor Idris Elba! Shannon is a father of four beautiful baby girls, a three-year-old, and a set of triplets.

Meet Jordan Straughter, YEP Outreach Coordinator
Jordan joins the organization to help develop the organization’s Youth Engagement Program (YEP). He has worked with youth camps reaching out to young people since he was 16. He has experience with numerous leadership roles for youth athletic programs and camps.

Working with the Amputee Coalition, Jordan will reach out to thousands of young people experiencing limb loss, research resources to help the community and serve as a voice on the YEP podcast. His prior experience and outgoing personality will play a key role in expanding our reach to youth in the U.S. and worldwide.

Jordan loves playing basketball and loves to smile. He reminds us all that a smile a day keeps the wrinkles away!
