With only a couple of weeks until the start of Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month (LLLDAM), there has never been a more opportune time to elevate and gain support for our community than during the month of April! The theme for this year’s campaign is “Inspire to Elevate,” which celebrates the ways our community members uplift and encourage others on their journey to thrive.
In the U.S. alone, more than 2.7 million people live with limb loss or limb difference, impacting people of every age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and background. Because limb loss can happen to anyone at any time and the number continues to rise, it is increasingly important to not only raise awareness but educate people about preventive measures. This is where you come in!
Whether you are a member of the community, friend, family member, or passionate ally, we invite you to join us by taking an actionable step to spread awareness in your community. There are many opportunities to get involved with the Amputee Coalition throughout the month and we would like to highlight our online tools to help you make a meaningful impact.
- Utilize the 2023 LLLDAM Communications Toolkit – We have created these resources especially for you! Help promote our theme “Inspire to Elevate” by sharing our brand assets with your networks. Download and distribute our poster around town or get out your mobile device to share our message. We have crafted social media posts to get you started and we encourage you to tag the Amputee Coalition and use our official hashtags on your social media platforms!
- Shop our online store and spread awareness with #LLLDAM apparel and gear – Items include T-shirts, a reusable grocery bag, and even a car magnet featuring our orange awareness ribbon. A portion of your purchase will go to the Amputee Coalition. You can also order free ribbons and access other resources through the Amputee Coalition secure store.
- Participate in the #WeThrive campaign – Inspire through the power of your story! Share your story for the first time or give us a life update about how you’ve remained resilient. If you’ve been a part of the community for a while, you can even share lessons or tips you’ve learned while living with limb loss or limb difference. Post your videos on social media or submit a written story on our website.
- Create your own fundraiser to benefit the Amputee Coalition – Now is the time to get creative by starting your own fundraiser to help us achieve our mission and drive greater awareness! If you are waiting for inspiration to spark, check out our mini fundraiser ideas or even tap into your social media network to host an online fundraiser. Make sure to register your event and let us know what you will be doing!
This Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month we challenge you to take part in spreading the word and we look forward to celebrating our impact together!
