Advocacy Efforts Regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA)

The Nondiscrimination in Health Programs and Activities Proposed Rule addresses the implementation of Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, and disability in certain health programs and activities. Amputee Coalition along with other members of ITEM Coalition emphasized the importance of ensuring the availability of accessible medical diagnostic equipment and the accessibility of information and communication technology for individuals with disabilities in a sign-on letter submitted on October 3, 2022.

Amputee Coalition joined the following organizations in the submission of the comment letter to Melanie Fontes Rainer, Director, Office for Civil Rights, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS):
